Alexx and Delko investigate the murder of a hunter in the Everglades, near a "controlled burn" fire to clear brush, and are forced to take cover as they are overwhelmed and overtaken by a wall of fire. Horatio discovers the remains of a flare that started the blaze and the dead body of a young woman. Horatio suspects the second fire was ignited on purpose to destroy all evidence of this newly discovered other murder.

Horatio and his team investigate the murder of paparazzi photographer found dead after being run off the road. Later it is discovered he was asphyxiated. Speedle and Calleigh discover someone searched the victim’s car, and removed his cameras and film.
